Staring at: Flower Garden Print

This Flower Garden Print from Jenean's Etsy shop looks like one of those Magic Eye pictures; if you stare at the flowers long enough, you start seeing faces and stuff.

Loving: Hoodies Salt and Pepper Shakers

These Hoodies salt and pepper shakers from Vitamin are just too cute.  The salt one just looks like he's hanging out, but pepper clearly just saw a ghost.  And they're hunched over like they're definitely up to no good.

Staring at: Meadow Large Flat Print

This Meadow Print from Design Public is supposed to be for a nursery, but I think it would be really nice anywhere in the house.  I love all the little details in it, like the bees buzzing around the flowers and the brown bunnies in the grass.

Loving: MOMA Ornaments

I love these glass Christmas tree ornaments from the MOMA store.  They're just sparkly enough to really reflect the tree lights perfectly, but not too garish.

Sitting on: Pyramid Chair

This Pyramid Chair from Feel More Human looks insanely comfy.  I think this is the kind of chair that I would need to have when I'm working, not that a lot of work would get done, but I'd be really relaxed.

Walking on: Vintage Belt Floor Mat

I love the rich colors of this Vintage Belt Floor Mat from Branch.  The striped and worn belts look like wood flooring, but the belt notches and sewn details give it a little extra something.

Loving: Skram Bureau

I love the simple exterior of this bureau from Skram, and the chocolatey color is beautiful.  The drawers are in three different depths so you can find a place for everything.  The bottom is really interesting too, it almost looks like it's floating.

Loving: Rosewood Twist Bracelet

This Rosewood Twist Bracelet from The Curiosity Shoppe is the perfect thing to wear to a holiday party.  It's pretty unique, so you know you'll be the only one with it, and the grain of the wood is absolutely beautiful.  And it can be worn dressed up or down, so it'll go with almost any outfit.

Sniffing: Smoke House Incense Burner

This Smoke House Incense Burner from Emmo Home is a really cute way to have incense around the house, but to hide the piles of ash after you finish burning it.  I think the only way it could be better is if it had a little chimney on top.

Staring at: Matte Stephens Krasner Prints

These Kitty and Duke of NY prints from Matte Stephens Krasner at Velocity Art and Design are really quirky and fun.  I love the rich colors and the retro look.

Loving: Piasa Room Divider

I love the wavy look of this Piasa Room Divider from Branch.  It's made of all sustainable materials, from the harvested wood planks to the cotton rope that holds them together.  Plus, it lets light though in a really interesting pattern, while still keeping everything private.

Loving: Apoll Tabletop Fireplace

The Apoll Tabletop Fireplace from Unica Home might be a little bit on the expensive side, but it's so cool.  It would be great to use at dinner instead of regular candles.  I wonder if you could use them to roast marshmallows.

Sitting on: Grasshopper Chair

There are so many reasons why I love this Grasshopper Chair from Modernica.  It looks like it would be so comfy to lean back and relax in, like it would just contour right around your back.  And the crazy bent arms and legs are really interesting.

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Bathing in: Ios Bath Tub

This Ios tub from Victoria and Albert Baths is really sleek.  All of the controls are housed separately from the tub, so you don't have to worry about leaning back and having to get comfy with a faucet sticking in your back.  And it looks really deep, so you can fill it up and relax.

Loving: Danish Modern Vikings

I love these quirky little Danish-Modern Viking figurines from Three Potato Four's Shop.  They're made out of different types of wood, so they almost look like something an adult could have around the house.  Plus, the expression on the tall guy's face is priceless.

Sleeping on: Furniturea Daybed

This daybed from Furniturea would be a great pop of color in a room.  Plus it comes in tons of different colors so it will match any decor.

Loving: Eva Solo Bird Feeder

We used to have a couple bird feeders around the yard growing up.  It was fun to see what birds came, look at all their different colors, and some of them would provide some comic relief.  These Eva Solo Bird Feeders from Feel More Human would be fun to fill with different colored seeds and hang in a row outside a window.

Staring at: Forest Flowers Print

I love the rich teal background of this Forest Flowers print by Redbean Design at Feel More Human.  And the white silhouette is really delicate.

Drinking from: Just Trees Mugs

I love the simplicity of all-white dishes, especially since you can keep changing the colors of your kitchen or dining room and not worry about the neon yellow clashing with the forest green dishes.  But these Just Trees mugs from mepottery's Etsy shop have a little hidden surprise, chocolaty brown trees drawn on the inside, perfect for drinking hot cocoa on a cold day.

Sitting at: Picnik

Of course it's way too cold to have a picnic, but if I could have one last meal outside this year it would be on Picnik by Wynants & Lust at Unica Home.  It really only seats two, but you can push more together if you have more people over, and they look like they're stackable.

Sticking: Origami Sticky Pads

At work I use about a case of post its a day, but they just end up getting thrown out once the note is irrelevant.  If I had these Origami Sticky Pads from Suck UK, I could both kill time, and make my desk a sculpture garden of yellow paper.

Loving: Bird on a Tree

The roughness of the trunk in this ceramic Bird on a Tree Vessel from Three Potato Four's Shop is unique enough to make this a must have vase.  The bird perching on the top just makes it even more adorable when it's poking out between a bunch of flowers.

Staring at: Cathy Scarlett

I love the strange simpleness of this painting from Cathy Scarlett's Etsy store.  From the white trunks of the trees, I'm going to guess that it's a painting of birches, of course birches don't have blue leaves, so it could just be a pretty painting.

Lounging on: Watusi Floor Cushion

After a long day of cooking, eating and cleaning up afterward, I think that this more grown up bean bag chair would be the perfect place to relax and nap.  It's called the Watusi Floor Cushion from Graham and Green, but it's really just a great excuse to have a bean bag chair again, but with a great print and better fabrics.

Loving: Beak

These Beak pitchers from perch! at Supermarket are really simple with a little pop of color at the bottom.  I love the random dots, and the colors are unusual, but go together perfectly.

Loving: Hana Media Stand

I love the cutout detail in this Hana media stand from Pier 1 Imports.  You can hide everything away, but the remote controls could probably still reach their recievers even with the doors closed.  And the design is subtle enough that you could have it in a room with a lot of other accessories, or you could let it stand alone.

Staring at: Forty-First and Fifth Ave.

I really want to live in one of the windows in this drawing from Erosner's Etsy shop.  It looks like a crazy apartment building in NYC that you would walk by and either see a bunch of zoo animals in the windows or a mad scientist's colorful explosions in other windows.  The name of it is Forty-First and Fifth Ave., maybe it really exists.

Loving: Cobra Lamp

I love the Cobra Lamp from Hive.  I think I would keep it in the more spherical shaped configuration.  It just looks more like a little globe of light.  Of course it's great that the light can be swiveled around to wherever you want it without being too obvious.

Loving: Glass Vases

These glass vases from Stille Ben Shop are all hand blown, so each on has a slightly different shape and are a little bit quirky.  And they have a really beautiful smoky color that makes them pop in a room instead of just fading in the background.

Sleeping in: Sunset Bed

This Sunset Bed from 2Modern is the perfect mix of a French, vintage tufted bed, and modern sleek lines. It would be perfect bed to cuddle up in with a book in the winter.

Staring at: Pixieblossom

I think the muted tones in these photographs from Pixieblossom's Etsy shop are the perfect thing to get through winter.  They remind me of the beautiful colors of spring without being to bright and showy.  These smallish (8x8) photos would be great grouped together on a wall.

Loving: Buddha Board

This Buddha Board from Perpetual Kid is the perfect time waster.  You just paint on it with water and when it dries the image disappears, so you can revert back to childhood and finger paint with just water on your fingertips.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Sitting on: Livingstones

These Livingstones from Smarin Design look just like river stones that I already love to use around the house.  They also look really comfortable, like bean bag chairs, but nice enough to stand alone in a room.  Plus, you can pile up a bunch like those stone piles you find on the beach.

Loving: Weltfeld Shelving Unit

Unfortunately, this awesome Weltfeld shelving unit from Matthias Ries Design Office is only a prototype, but the second they start making them, I would run out and get a bunch.  I'm guessing that it's made out of recycled, heavy duty canvas.  When you unroll it, it makes up a complete shelving unit that would be perfect for an entry way or office, but when you move, you can just roll it back up.

Loving: ShinShoku Watch

I love this Shinshoku watch from Tokyo Flash Japan, but it would take a while to get used to telling time on it.  The red lights are hours, the green lights indicate 15 minutes, and the yellow is just 1 minute.  So the watch above says 8:35.  But you have to press one of the buttons to get it to light up, so most of the time it just looks like a really cool cuff.

Eating with: Iittala Mango Silverware

I love this set of Mango silverware from Iittala at All Modern.  It looks really delicate, and like it was carved from wood.  And heads are all a little bit quirky, so every meal will be memorable.

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Sitting on: Morfeo Sofa

This Morfeo sofa from Domodinamica at Unica is perfect for a library/office/guest room.  The lamps are built in right over your head, so you can just curl up with a book and not have to worry about weird shadows from table lamps.  Plus, it pulls out to a bed just in case company stops by.

Tuesday, November 4, 2008

Loving: Labyrinth Lock

I think I would never be able to get out of the house in the morning if I installed this Defendius Labyrinth lock from Think Geek.  It would be really fun though to lock the door when guests come over and have them let themselves out.

Thursday, October 30, 2008

Lounging on: EB Lounger

I love this Eazy Bean Lounger from Feel More Human instead of regular outdoor furniture.  It looks really comfy, and you can lounge around outside by the pool without ending up with lines from regular outdoor furniture.  Plus, you can bring it inside and lounge around the house.

Staring at: Elsita's Papercut Prints

These adorable papercut prints are from Elsita's Etsy shop.  The top one of course is Alice in Wonderland, and the bottom one is Red Riding Hood.  They remind me of antique fairy tale books where the pictures have a little bit of creepiness to them.
